Pumped Up Kicks (Song Cover)

Me and my friend, Evelyna made a song cover of Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People. The process of putting everything together (audio and video) was fun and challenging. This is the first cover video which I incorporated the drums in. But I recorded the drums a bit later after I arranged the guitars and the vocals. Go check it out guys! I hope you guys appreciate my effort in putting this cover together. LIKE and SHARE! Thank you for the support!

I Want To Tell You About Her (Part 2)

27th August 2012, we arrived in Vancouver, Canada. Both pursuing the engineering field. Well, we weren't that close when we first arrived. Probably because she was still trying to adapt to living in another country. So I gave her some time to settle down and I wasn't with her until the first day of class. It seems a bit awkward to have the same schedule as her, but we managed to get along well. I get to know more about her and her personality. We again made a cover together and was eventually invited to sing a duet during SMC's Deepavali Night.

Things begin to change when 'something' happened. I guess it is not appropriate for me to discuss that 'something' here. So, yeah. We didn't talk for a few days. I tried to avoid her as much as I can. Then I realized that avoiding her will not do any good, so I apologized and talked to her about it. We came to good terms again as we head towards the end of the first semester. One moment that I would remember is when she asked me to pick her hairstyle. It was after the final exams and she wanted a new haircut. I picked one which I thought looked good on her and I was right. She looked amazingly stunning. :)

Second semester is probably the closest we've been together. I tried to avoid any conflicts with her and she seems to like being with me again. We would walk to class together, go to gym together and help each other with homeworks and assignments. She would come to me for help and I would gladly spare my time to help her with her troubles. This year, I couldn't recall a time when we were not in good terms. Most of the times, I am always in a good mood whenever she's around. Even when friends want to find her, they will find me first.

So, that's it. That's my story about her. Only God knows where this relationship/friendship is going. All I can say is I am putting all my trust in God. He knows what's planned for me in the future. Have faith and keep the faith!

I Want To Tell You About Her (Part 1)

I met her when I was studying in Taylor's Canadian Pre-University program. My friend actually introduced me to her. He was like, "Hey Bryan, there's this girl from Sarawak and she's Iban". At that instant, I knew I had to meet her. I saw her for the first time in front of the Computer Science class. First impression, she's nerd and she's quiet. I asked my friend for her name and immediately after that day, I added her on Facebook. I stalked her profile and I was right. She is kind of nerdy and is a very religious person. So then, I introduced myself to her on Facebook and we became friends from then.

I can't exactly remember the first time when I talked to her face to face, but I can surely remember the first time I asked her out to Sunway Pyramid. It was a Saturday. She brought along one of her friends and while we were there, I treat them to KFC. To be honest, I was attracted to her ever since that day. I get to know her more in church since we go to church every Sunday. I would sit next to her and we just shared our stories from high school and from the past. We seldom meet during school day cause we had different schedules, but I would always say hi whenever she passed by. As I get to know her more and more, my feelings for her started growing.

It was not until we made our first cover together that I discovered my true feelings towards her. She was lovely. Her voice and everything caught my attention. After that I was inspired to create my own songs. I came up with my first original, "Closer" which really means that I just want to be closer to you if I were to be in love with you. Then, I created "My Everything", which basically sums up how she really means to me. After I came up with the song, I eventually told her that I love her. But, I was rejected. I was friend-zoned. Despite my efforts, I always knew that she will never love  me.

But I didn't give up. We were back in good terms and towards the end of the second semester, we were close again. In fact, this time we were really really close. After the final exams, I would accompany her out for lunch, dinner and sometimes breakfast. I remember bringing her out for breakfast at the mamak stall one morning just to see her. And there is one time when I was on my way home from KLIA with my uncle, she texted me asking me where I wanted to eat lunch. She waited for me to be back home and I accompanied her for lunch that day. These moments, although it may mean nothing to her, means a lot to me. I could recall back how I feel back then while typing all this stuffs out.

I feel like our friendship was inevitably strong towards the end of CPU. We went for medical checkups together, she took pictures with me and my family during our graduation and we built the same schedule for our first year in UBC. I feel like everything is fated. I wasn't planning to go to UBC at first. My first choice was always UofT. But God said otherwise. He sent me here to UBC together with her. You know how everything that happens, happens for a reason? God knows best what He is doing. If He wants me to be with her, then let it be. It will always be my pleasure to be with her and I appreciate all the time God has given me to be with her and to love her. :)

She's The One

She's the one..

She's the one whose beauty I can never forget.
She's the one whose beauty comes from the heart, not from the face.
She's the one whose lovely smile can make my heart melt.
She's the one whose eyes are as beautiful as the heart.
She's the one whose everyday mood can affect mine.
She's the one whom I can never forget no matter how hard I try.
She's the one who can never fail to cheer up my everyday life.
She's the one who will always offer support when I'm down.
She's the one who is always willing to listen to my problems.
She's the one who is not afraid of something different.
She's the one who is not afraid of something challenging.
She's the one who is a perfectionist.
She's the one whom I find to be the perfect match for my life.
She's the one that can make me feel like I am in heaven when she's around.
She's the one, the only one.

I hope she reads this so that she knows how much she really means to me. There are many more things about her that I couldn't list down everything. Sigh..only God knows. God, since I can't utter the words out, listen to my heart and You will know how I feel.

Feb 29,2012!

I realized I haven't been posting any blogs for months. Been busy with midterms and involved in the Malaysia Singapore Night committee as the Technical Director. The event's this Saturday. Lots of VIPs will be attending so the stakes are high! Hopefully, nothing goes wrong on that night.

February has been kind to me. I was in a really good mood throughout the month despite the midterms and assignments. I was glad and thankful to God that I got a really good mark in most of my midterms. Much better than I expected. But not to be contented with what I have, I will strive to do better in the next upcoming midterm which is somewhere at the end of March.

During the reading break, me and my fellow Malaysian friends went to Whistler for snow tubing. Whistler is famous for being the venue of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The scenery there was breathtaking. Luckily for us, when we were there, it was snowing. The journey from Vancouver to Whistler took about 2 hours by bus. We were there from morning till evening. It was a great day. I really enjoyed myself. Here's a video of me sliding down the hill in a tube:

Lately, I find myself in a mess. If there is one important lesson I learnt is that do not let life take control of you but you must take control of your own life. To be honest, I need to reorganize myself and put me back in control of my own life. I get so stressed out if I have lots of work to do but not having the motivation to do them. Let this start of March be the point where I reorganize myself and put myself back in control.

Bryan in Whistler

I am really looking forward to March. I would like to thank God for the great moments in February. There are lots that I'm not able to share with you guys. Let me keep it to my own. Have a great month ahead!

Smile and stay positive! :)

Let's Kick Start Another Semester

I'm back in UBC people! Ready to kick start another semester which I believe will be a lot more challenging than the previous one. But like this guy says,

Here are my subjects for the following semester:
1. APSC 160 - Introduction to Computation in Engineering Design
2. PHYS 153 - Element of Physics
3. PHYS 170 - Mechanics
4. MATH 152 - Linear Systems
5. MATH 101 - Integral Calculus with Applications to Physical Sciences and Engineering
6 APSC 122 - Introduction to Engineering

Let's do this! Time to swing into high gear and get a good start. Good luck to fellow UBC engineers who are reading this. Don't worry...we will survive.  :)

Twelve Months to Improve

Happy 2012!
Every new year, we set new life goals that we aim to achieve in the next 12 months. While I don't expect myself to turn over a new leaf, I aim to improve myself in many ways.

First of all, I need to crawl out of my own shell and explore the world. This city, Vancouver, has a lot to offer. God sent me here not to stay in my room 24/7 but to experience the culture and to socialize with the people around me. I think that is what I am lacking in the past couple of months. I was always that shy little fellow who always seems "socially awkward" when it comes to meeting new people. This year, I am going to change that. I will make new friends with fellow Canadians and other internationals. Hopefully, I will be able to learn a thing or two about the many different cultures from people around the world.

The second thing on my list is my grades. I hope to perform better academically this semester. I know it is going to be as tough (if not tougher) as the previous semester. My current average is okay but with all these intelligent students and geniuses around me, I will need to do better. I must compete for a place in Mechanical Engineering. Hopefully God will save a spot for me and I will have to work hard to prove that I deserve that spot. Engineering is no joke. It is the survival of the fittest.

Third thing, improve as a whole. It will take a lot of time but now is the time to start. Spiritually, emotionally and physically, I will better myself from the inside out. I will improve on my relationship with God, my family, my girlfriend and my friends around me. If there is one thing that is going to satisfy me this year is to know that I am a better person than I was in 2011. Improvement will be the key word for me in 2012.

Past is past. Leave 2011 behind. Thanks for the memories and look forward to 2012. For each and everyone of us, God has written an incredible story. 2012 will be another chapter in this book of life. Today is page 1 of 366. Just read along and enjoy the ride.

I wish you all the best in 2012. God bless and take care.
